Confessions (or, what this blog actually is)
Originally begun in August 2003, the Arizona Growler was one of those blogs that didn’t know it was a blog. Starting off with two authors, it was hosted on the domain name arizonagrowler.org. Later on, I converted the page to PHP-Nuke and expanded the authorship to two more individuals. Later on, I discovered Blogger.com and eventually decided to abandon the Growler in favor of Blogger rather than what I called at the time "an independent news website."
The answer to that call of informality became known to the university as The O’Hara Factor. Look at the archives chronologically and you’ll notice how I went from an immature sophomore blogger to an unpaid journalist. I’ll leave whether I was respected for others to decide. Simply put, this is my fun.
After more than two years operating The O’Hara Factor, I’ve come to a point where I must plan for the future. Considering my chosen post-college occupation, blogging the way I like is not in the immediate future. Moreover, no other bloggers who watchdog over ASUA and the Arizona Daily Wildcat currently exist. I will not stand by and let this job fall by the wayside upon my graduation.
This is more than a name change. The Arizona Growler in a sense is my grand conspiracy to ensure that blogging about these issues lives on past my graduation.
